Your Core Values and Your Life—Do They Match?
By Geraldine T. Merola, Ph.D.
Most forms of psychotherapy are concerned, in one form or another, with modifying behaviors and reaching goals.
In order to feel successful, though, your goals and behaviors need to be in harmony with your core self. Within your core self lie your deepest yearnings, values, beliefs and traits. The more in sync your life style is with your core self, the more balanced and joyful your life becomes. What better definition of success?
This is a work sheet to help you answer this question: How closely does your life description reflect your core self?
This isn’t a quickie quiz. It’s meant to be done thoughtfully when you have the time and motivation. You may prefer to do it a little at a time. Feel free to print out this work sheet. Use a separate sheet of paper for your answers. Highlight any items that you would like to work on improving.
You may share this work sheet with others for non-commercial purposes only, with the condition that my identifying and copyright information be kept intact.
